"The Food Show is on and I am visualising the foodies arriving adorned with body food. here's a nice recipe - Slender Copper Leaves with Silver Dewdrops. Ingredients - 2 strips copper 0.7 x 4.0 cm, 12 silver balls 2mm in diameter, 20 gauge silver wire, 20 gauge copper wire, numerous solder chips. Method - Snipe and file copper strips to leaf shape, a tapered end is nice. Anneal and fold strips lengthwise to 90 degrees. Solder on 6 silver balls to each leaf. Shape wire into hook findings. Solder to top of each leaf. Clean, file, sand and polish. Wear to the food show. It's all that you want it to be".

Composed of three materials - sterling silver, glass powder enamels and copper which together add colour, contrast, a glaze like finish and with the shine of silver. This necklace design is called "Gloria Beads" because they celebrate NZ character. Each cylindrical bead is different. The copper strip bead represent tree bark, there's the koru rainbow bead, the sea water ripples bead, the pohutukawa flower bead, the black diamond bead represents the silver fern trunk pattern and the copper and enamel bead is like the tiny leaves of the kowhai.
